Family Pizza Night

Family pizza night is fun any day of the week! It’s a super easy way to get everyone gathered around the table sharing a meal and talking about their day. When it’s time for family pizza night, instead of ordering from your favorite local shop, try having a do-it-yourself pizza night. It’s a great way to let everyone have their own style of pizza.

Pizza Makes Everything Better

Pizza is one of those meals that makes everyone smile and brings everyone together.

  • Start by using pre-cooked crust or a pre-made dough. Try a whole grain, cauliflower, or spinach crust. You can roll out your dough into whatever shape you want the pizzas. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even toss the dough in the air a few times. It’ll be entertaining for everyone!

  • Experiment with different sauces. Use traditional red sauce, or any of the other pizza alternatives like: ricotta cheese, pesto, ranch dressing, or barbecue sauce. Be as creative as you like. You can even add honey or sriracha.

  • Make it healthy and colorful. Get ready to veggie. Grab pre-chopped veggies like broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, red peppers, mushrooms, brussels sprouts, zucchini, and onions, and let people pick what they top their pizza with.

  • You can even try fruits, like pears, figs, pineapples and apples.

  • Try different proteins, like pre-cooked chicken, ground beef, shredded steak, tofu, and turkey bacon crumbles. Use a rainbow of cheeses Mozzarella, blue cheese, Cheddar, Gruyere, and Goat Cheese.

  • Top with black and green olives, garlic, peanuts, jalapenos, pine nuts, chopped basil or spinach leaves.

Bake and…Eat!

Bake pizzas in a 475-degree oven for about 10 minutes.

Homemade Pizza can be a great way to make healthy foods for kids. It’s no doubt that anything homemade tastes better. Plus, you feel more accomplished when you pull off a dish like pizza! It’s easier to add new veggies to a familiar food. Making your own pizzas is a great family bonding activity and it helps get your kids acclimated to the kitchen. Whether you make family pizza night a recurring, weekly event, or just have it once in a while as a special occasion, your family will really enjoy it.
