  1. Make and Give Valentine Cards:Your Valentine’s Day cards don’t need to be store-bought; the family can make them together. You can get as creative as you want by adding glitter, cutting out shapes or adding a great photo. Whatever your family decides, it’s fun to share your loving thoughts. Don’t forget to include teachers, grandparents, neighbors and friends! You can also bring a bit of excitement and joy by mailing a Valentine card.
  2. Create Valentine’s Day Crafts. Make a family fingerprint artwork by putting a large heart-shaped sticker in the middle of a canvas, then have everyone stamp their fingerprints all over in different colors. When dry, remove the heart sticker and have a special, one-of-a-kind work of art. Buy a wooden frame and then decorate it with stones, glitter, pebbles, noodles---get creative. Then, find your best family photos to put in these cool hand-made frames. Place on the mantle, in your kid’s room or in the kitchen for all to see. You can also glue on magnets to the back of the frames and put onto the fridge.
  3. Bake Valentine Cookies. Your kids will be wowed by making and enjoying homemade treats. Baking Valentine cookies is always a tasty, engaging, and super fun experience for the entire family to enjoy. You can make a large heart-shaped cookie, a seven-layer cake (each one responsible for a layer), mini cupcakes with pink, purple and vanilla frosting and add edible candies and chocolates! Being in the kitchen together to create memories, have laughs and enjoy baking easy yummy treats!
  4. Play Valentine Games. Valentine’s games are a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and help your kids develop critical thinking and reasoning skills. Here are some Valentine Game Ideas to play with your kids:
  • Love Your Smile! Instructions: Everyone sits in a circle. The first player smiles and tries to get each person to smile. They get a point for each one that they get to smile on their turn. When their turn is over, they “wipe the smile off their face” and it is the next person’s turn!
  • Take Heart: Instructions: Another quick and fun game for kids, is the traditional Pin the Tail on the Donkey. But instead of a donkey and a tail, we have a Tin Man and a heart.
  • Valentine's Minute to Win It Games: Heart Stack: Get some of those colorful candy hearts and lay them out on a table. Each child must stack as many hearts into one single-file tower as they can within a minute. If a stack falls over, they must begin again. The one with the highest stack wins.
  • Candy Pick-Up: Put those chocolate kisses and heart candies onto a plate with an empty plate next to it. Then, hand the kids a set of chopsticks and see who can move the most candies from the full plate to the empty one. The one with the most moved candies is the winner.
